Student Life
While academics are crucial to the MBA experience, they alone do not make for a quality or complete education.
Alabama MBA students are involved in numerous extracurricular activities. Below you will see highlights of past student involvement:
- Participation in UA’s homecoming festivities, activities include Bowling and Pool Tournaments, the River and Road Relay, Paint the Town Red advertising campaign, and constructing and riding on the MBA float in the Homecoming Parade.
- Intramural football, softball, basketball, and bowling teams. Each year one sporting event is planned with the Law School.
- MBA CAREs (Community Awareness and Rewarding Experiences), is a way for you to serve the University, and the Tuscaloosa community. Part of being a responsible business person and business leader is figuring out your talent for contributing to society. Through the activities sponsored by the MBA C.A.R.E. Organization, you can begin to make this “ contributing to society” a part of your normal mode of operation. In addition, you will have the opportunity to nurture friendships with your classmates by participating in C.A.R.E. activities.Students participate in community service events at least once a month, including volunteering at the Soup Kitchen, conducting a campus wide blood donation drive, raising donations for hurricane and tsunami relief funds, and working with Big Brothers/Big Sisters.
- MBA Week, an annual event, which includes community service, intramural sports, career development seminars, the annual MBA Golf Tournament, and a keynote speaker.
- Social activities include Christmas and Halloween parties, an elegant formal dance honoring the graduating class, a Casino night party, receptions for visiting executives, and a crawfish boil.
- Internationally recognized faculty develop strong relationships with students, these professors will be mentors and valuable resouces for years to come.
- Alumni events on campus throughout the year provide networking activities for students and alumni.

- A bright talented peer group enables students to develop bonds through extensive teambuilding activities, service projects, and social interaction.
As you will find interspersed in with the days and nights of hard work, there is a social life in Tuscaloosa. students organizations, clubs, and University Programs host a number of activities to bring the Manderson Community and the University campus together in the spirit of fun.
