We understand that, in some cases, you are relocating to a city that is miles, oceans, and languages apart from your home. We also understand that you are eager to embrace your new home, participate in new experiences, and meet new people.
To help in your transition, you will find the following information very useful. The following web site lists all the details necessary for you to plan for your arrival: Pre-Arrival Information. It includes information about the city of Tuscaloosa, Immigration, Medical Insurance, and student organizations.
Additionally, we have recently established a program known as FRIENDS. This program will put you in contact with someone who will volunteer to be your personal "ambassador." Please let them know of any questions, concerns, and issues that you may have. Feel free to drop them a note so that you can become acquainted.

International students are required to complete a CPT document for internship employment authorization. USCIS defines CPT as work which is an integral part of the curriculum, including internships, practicums, Cooperative Education employment, or any other type or required work/study program which is offered through cooperative agreements with the University. According to USCIS, the word “required” does not always limit CPT to work experiences which are required by the curriculum. Although a student is employed as an intern the CPT should be viewed as a class, not work, it is for credit and must contribute towards the completion of the student’s program of study.
