A diverse faculty who is the best in the business and excel in both teaching and research distinguishes Manderson. Our exceptional team of faculty members consists of experts in finance, accounting, investing, strategy, game theory, operations research, organizational behavior, marketing, and statistics who are scholars and teachers of tremendous talent and ability. Each is a recognized scholar in his or her chosen field but also a cohesive and complementary MBA staff member dedicated to students and the future of the MBA Program. Consequently, the faculty work to bring their research and analytical framework to the classroom to create a well-integrated MBA program. Each faculty member is actively engaged in real-world research, consulting, and related activities along with his or her pure academic pursuits. Their strong ties to the business community keep them alert of changes in the marketplace and in tune with the needs of business.

Dr. Rob Ingram, senior associate dean of the Culverhouse College of Commerce, announced the following promotions, which become effective Aug. 16:

Dr. B. Michael Adams, associate professor of statistics, to professor;
Dr. Jullet Davis, assistant professor of health care management, to associate professor with tenure;
Dr. Alexander E. Ellinger, associate professor of marketing and supply chain management, tenure;

  • Dr. Benton Gup, professor of finance and Robert Hunt Cochrane/Alabama Bankers chair, is listed among the leading researchers in finance, according to a new study evaluating articles by 17,573 authors that appeared in leading finance journals.

    Gup, with 21 articles, is listed as number 256 among authors of articles published in a set of 72 finance journals. The survey was published in the Journal of Financial Literature (Winter 2005). Gup is also the author or editor of 24 books.
