Core Courses
At
Manderson, we strongly believe that students should acquire a thorough introductory
knowledge of all functional areas of business. We provide our first year students
with an innovative curriculum structured in an intensive lock-step program. By
providing the basics of all management disciplines, with an integrated group of
required core courses, the Manderson MBA supplies the knowledge and skills that
every manager must possess. You will gain a practical understanding
of core business disciplines such as accounting, finance, marketing, organizational
behavior, operations management, economics, project management, data mining, and statistics and learn how they interrelate when applied to real-world business
challenges. The basic framework of knowledge provides a broad understanding of
the individual's role within the corporation, the elements of managerial problem
solving and decision-making and tools that managers will use throughout their
careers.
First-year courses are delivered via a cross-functional integrated approach, with each course building on prior knowledge. The goal is to provide the broad base of concepts and function-specific knowledge required to build the sound decision-making skills applied in the second year.
We give students live business courses and consultative experiences with some of our corporate partners allowing them to practice and interact with senior management before they graduate.
Classes are scheduled Monday through Thursday, with Fridays reserved for various professional activities. The "Friday experience" is a unique feature of the program that enriches learning and promotes interaction among students, faculty and corporate visitors. Fridays are free for events and activities that transcend the classroom mold: informal meetings with managers, panel discussions, speaker series, job fairs, site visits, and the like.

A Business Alum, Gary Fayard, CFO of Coca-Cola, visits with our MBA students as part of the Lowder Lecture series.
Why follow an Integrated Curriculum?
We are dedicated in developing our students into professionals with the business acumen to recognize, analyze and solve problems and contribute to organization's bottom line immediately following graduation. In order to accomplish this task, we not only integrate functional areas, but also supplement real case analyses to class lectures. We recognize that in the "real world" there are many solutions to problems and not always one right answer. Therefore, we teach our students to evaluate complex situations from various angles and encourage team based solutions whenever possible. Our MBA graduates are not only equipped with the concentration of specialization, but also have a strong knowledge of all functional areas of business. Manderson MBA graduates have the competitive advantage of being able to survive in any type of business environment and emerge skilled in the demands of the modern competitive organization.
