Chief Operating Officer

Our organization has benefited in many ways from the new, innovative ideas that these students have brought forward for us to consider in improving our operations. They have done an exceptional job in evaluating our current market position, our strengths and vulnerabilities and providing clear strategic actions for us to consider.

We have already implemented several of the strategies recommended by the students into our daily operations and have already begun to see the return on these recommendations. The partnership has also allowed us to continue to strengthen our ties in the communities we serve and to be able to market in different ways from the diverse knowledge and backgrounds of the students we have worked with.

We are excited about our future relations with the program and anticipate an even closer working relationship under this partnership.

Maintaining relationships is a critical factor in the success of any business, however relationships with educational institutions may not be foremost in everyone's mind. When I had a strategic deliverable in process and a need for resources, it was an alumni event with Dean Mason that led me to rekindle my relationship with the Manderson Graduate School of Business MBA Program. Because of that meeting, Dean Mason helped me to fulfill my need: the two MBA summer interns I secured from the multitude of qualified candidates were the mature, business generalists I required for my project. It also gave me the opportunity to get a preview of what the school has to offer me when I will be recruiting next spring, with these two summer interns at the top of my prospect list.

Today, as the human capital market continues to tighten, our relationship with the University of Alabama allows us access to the best talent and raw material that this fine institution has to offer.

Southern Company

Southern Company uses a broad approach in its recruiter efforts at the Manderson Graduate School of Business. Working with the MBA Career Services Center and the C&BA faculty, we have been able to customize our on going recruiting partnership with the MBA Program. By hosting informational receptions, hiring summer interns, and utilizing the MBA Strategy Consulting Project Team, we have been able to identify top candidates who have been very successful with our company.

AFFLINK

AFFLINK has developed an internship relationship with the Manderson Graduate School of Business MBA Program designed to fulfill our needs in business to get projects done efficiently and effectively. Interns can start their summer internship with AFFLINK prior to their first year and conclude their internship at graduation. The beauty of this process is that we have a second year MBA student training a first year student, with a continual cycle of well qualified MBA students seeing projects to completion. Each intern has folded into the AFFLINK family and has shown us the work ethic and leadership skills that we value in our employees. With this successful relationship we have hired several full time employees that are graduates of the Manderson MBA Program. We look forward to continuing our relationship with the program.

Recently when I needed an Analyst for an opening in my company's Treasury Department. The Career Services staff at Manderson promptly found several very talented, well-suited students who fit the criteria I had specified. Scheduling the interviews could not have been easier due to the efforts of the courteous professionals who set them up. We subsequently hired one of the four people we interviewed. I will definitely call on the staff at Manderson in the future whenever we have a job opening.
