Internship Placement Statistics
Each first year MBA student is expected to obtain an internship in their chosen field between their first and second year. This opportunity allows students to gain valuable MBA level work experience while allowing employers to "test drive" a potential employee. Opportunties to interview and network are available throughout the school year and each student is expected to take advantage of these opportunities in order to find placement.
Many resources are made available to the student, including but not limited to: mock interviews, lunch and learn sessions, speaker series, networking and coaching events, as well as individual appointments with career services personnel.
The average pay for an MBA intern is $10-$20 per hour, with a median of $15. However, some interns earn as much as $35 per hour depending on the company chosen. Internships last from 8-12 weeks, and are usually 40 hours per week. Housing or housing allowances are fairly common, but this should be negotiated and understood during the offer process since not all companies offer this option.
Most students choose to remain in Alabama for their internships, however, for the summer of 2008, we currently have students in Texas, New York, Cincinatti, Florida, Georgia, Tennessee, DC, and even foreign countries!
